1. Introduction

Fix My Beep is a trading name of Rosetta Software Limited, a company registered in England and Wales. Rosetta Software Limited (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is the data controller for all personal data processed through the Fix My Beep mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use Fix My Beep.

2. Information We Collect

Information you provide:

  • Email address — collected when you sign in, used solely to authenticate your account and associate your scan history with you.

Information collected automatically:

  • Photos and images — images you upload for fault code analysis. These are transmitted to an AI model provider for processing and stored to maintain your scan history.
  • Appliance descriptions — any optional free-text you provide alongside a photo to improve diagnosis accuracy. This text is included in the prompt sent to our AI provider and may be retained in platform operational logs.
  • Scan history — the results of your diagnoses, including appliance type, error codes, and AI-generated repair guidance, stored against your account.
  • Device and session data — for guest users, a randomly generated device identifier is stored locally on your device to manage your free usage allowance. No persistent personal data is collected for guest sessions.

3. How We Use Your Information

We process your personal data on the legal basis of contract performance (to provide the service you have requested) and legitimate interests (to operate, maintain, and improve the app securely).

We use the information we collect only to:

  • Provide the core app functionality (analysing appliance fault codes and generating repair estimates)
  • Save and display your personal scan history
  • Associate your scans and estimates with your account so you can access them later
  • Manage usage allowances and prevent abuse

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond operating the app.

4. Third-Party Services and Data Processors

Fix My Beep relies on the following third-party processors. By using the app, you acknowledge that your data is processed by these services on our behalf:

  • Base44 — our application platform, which provides authentication, database storage, and backend infrastructure. Your data is stored on Base44’s servers. Base44 may retain operational and diagnostic logs, including prompts submitted to AI services, for a period determined by their infrastructure retention policy.
  • AI model providers — your uploaded images and optional descriptions are transmitted to an AI service for analysis. Images and text are used solely to generate a repair diagnosis and are not used to train AI models or shared with any other party beyond what is necessary to provide the service.
  • Stripe — used to process in-app payments securely. We do not store payment card details. Stripe’s privacy policy applies to payment data.
  • RevenueCat — used to manage in-app purchase entitlements on iOS and Android.

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third parties for marketing or commercial purposes.

5. Data Retention

Your scan history and account data are retained for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Profile tab within the app. Upon deletion, your personal data is permanently removed from our systems. Note that operational logs held by our platform provider (Base44) may be subject to their own retention schedule.

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information. All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. Access to personal data is restricted to authorised systems only.

7. International Transfers

Your data may be processed on servers located outside the United Kingdom or European Economic Area. Where this occurs, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place in accordance with UK GDPR requirements.

8. Children’s Privacy

Fix My Beep is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Rectification of inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Erasure (“right to be forgotten”) of your personal data
  • Restriction of processing in certain circumstances
  • Data portability — to receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at the address below. We will respond within 30 days.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app following any update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
